Child Aid Uganda (CHAU) is dedicated to preventing further transmission of HIV, improving survival rates, and enhancing the health and wellbeing of AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children and their families.
Project Status:
The project is ongoing, with continuous efforts to reach more beneficiaries and improve the health, education, and economic conditions of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Challenges such as high stigma and limited resources are being addressed through community engagement and partnerships.

Awareness Campaigns:
CHAU conducts awareness sessions on child and girls' rights, the importance of education, and the role of community members in protecting children. These sessions have reached thousands of community members, spreading crucial information about HIV prevention and child rights .
Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children:
Through grants, such as from the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP), CHAU supports OVCs by providing school fees, scholastic materials, and food and nutrition education to boost immunity and overall health.
Household Support:
CHAU also supports households of HIV-positive OVCs with small business boosts, training in kitchen gardening, and farm inputs for food security. This helps improve the economic stability and food security of affected families.
Training and Capacity Building:
CHAU conducts training for OVC caregivers on business and parenting skills, ensuring that families can support their children's education and wellbeing effectively.
Community Mobilization:
CHAU has formed and supported community groups, providing technical support and ensuring regular meetings to share best practices on education and self-sustenance.
Educational Support:
Besides health and awareness, CHAU supports education for HIV/AIDS affected children, which includes paying school fees and providing living costs and scholastic materials.
